Something very odd happened today. One of the sessions was poorly attended for some reason, and an effort was made to discover who the absentees were. After much ado it was established who the guilty parties were, and they will doubtless be dealt with later. Thank goodness I was present! My neighbour said - rather loudly I thought - "When I came here I certainly didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition!" Luckily no one else heard him. After a shortened but still rather tedious lecture we were finally reminded that such sessions were compulsory. I couldn't resist whispering, "I wish they were compulsive, too!" though from the icy glare which came from the front I suspect that I may have been overheard. I hope it won't go down on my report to the Bishop.
