A LITURGY FOR THE BLESSING OF WELLS

And the people being gathered around the well the priest shall say:

P. Blessed be the springs of water.

All. For they shall bring forth gushing.

P. Blessed be the gift of refreshing liquid.

All. Wherever it may be found.

P. Blessed be this place.

All. For thou makest all things well.

P. Blessed be the wells.

All. And all shall be well.

P. And all manner of things shall be well.

All. Yea, verily, especially this one.

And the priest shall sprinkle the well with holy water:

P. May this well be thrice blessed.

All. Well, well, well.

And the priest and people shall dip their hands in the water and then depart for the nearest Inn.
