498: I will put on my priestly clothes with glee

Tune: "I will enter his courts"

I will put on my priestly clothes with glee,
I shall wear a fresh alb that is white,
I will make sure that my stole is swinging quite free,
And tie up my cord girdle really tight.

I deserve the best,
I deserve the best,
Yes I deserve the best robes that are fine.
I shall wear a vest,
I shall wear a vest,
So I shall wear a vestment that is mine.

The colours that I choose for the chasuble gay,
Shall be the ones tradition has decreed,
Bright Red for faithful slain and pure White for Easter Day,
Purple in Lent and Green for nature's seed.

I deserve the best,
I deserve the best,
Yes I deserve the best robes that are fine.
I shall wear a vest,
I shall wear a vest,
So I shall wear a vestment that is mine.

See me enter now with a flourish that is bold,
I shall prance up the aisles like a Queen.
I will twirl up to the Chancel in a blur of cream and gold,
And wave to all who greet me with a scream.

I deserve the best,
I deserve the best,
Yes I deserve the best robes that are fine.
I shall wear a vest,
I shall wear a vest,
So I shall wear a vestment that is mine.
