A DAY IN THE LIFE OF

DEACON MARGARET WIBBLY (3)

Armed with the Sacred Tongs of Saint Herphastus, given in memory of Father Lispington-Smythe, Vicar of the parish from 1879-1924, Deacon Margaret Wibbly attempts to transfer the smouldering charcoal to the first of the thuribles. Unfortunately, her theological training has not included such skills, and she consistently allows the red-hot nuggets to fall onto the floor, damaging the encrusted Victorian tiles, and not endearing her to the army of Vergers who have lovingly polished them to a mirror shine over the past 42 years. She eventually finds an old fish slice which helps.
